Hanging Rock State Park, located in Stokes County outside of the town of Danbury, is part of theSauratown Mountains. The Lower Cascades Trail Improvements project was completed in 2005 and consisted of slightly more than 1,100 feet of new trail construction. The goal of the project was to improve visitor access to the Lower Cascades waterfall, a popular destination in the park. Construction included gravel surfacing, timber steps, stone steps, a 60-foot long bridge, and an overlook.
